Thursday 22nd July

There is a six-race card at Sandown on Thursday afternoon where the feature event is the Star Stakes (3:20) for two-year-old fillies over seven furlongs.

Over at Leopardstown in the evening the focus of attention will be on the Group 3 Tyros Stakes (6:25) which often throws up a high-class juvenile colt. The Meld Stakes (7.30) also holds Group 3 status. It is run over nine furlongs for three-year-olds and upwards.

Friday 23rd July

Ascot hosts the first day of the King George meeting, and the best race is the listed Valiant Stakes (3:20) for fillies and mares over a mile.

There is also listed action at York on Friday evening in the shape of the Lyric Stakes (7:30) over a mile and a quarter for fillies and mares.

Saturday 24th July

Saturday is King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes (4:25) day at Ascot, and the big race is a mouth-watering prospect with Derby winner Workforce set to clash with his top-class stablemate Harbinger. There is abundant quality throughout the rest of the card, with the Princess Margaret Stakes (2:40) and the International Stakes (3:50) the most interesting events.

The Group 2 York Stakes (3:05) over a mile and a quarter is the highlight of York's seven-race card.
